• It slides straight back. In raised position the bottom is about 3.5” below the mounting surface. Mine pushes in just behind the front edge of the desk. You could probably adjust the track installation to get another inch or two but not much more than that.

• Yes, as long as it installed correctly and has a space to slide into that accommodates the width of the drawer.

• It is pretty much out of the way. It does hang down about an inch and a half to two inches under the counter but that hasn't been a problem for us. The track is under the counter, too, but that hasn't been a problem for us either as it is recessed enough from the edge. It is strong, well made and works well for us.
