• You may or may not need to update bios. If you get the box that says compatible with 5000 series it's a coin flip but doing so isn't that hard. Without that statement printed on the box, it is a given that you'd have to update bios...

• Best bet is to be ready to update it. Box says up to 3000 series and I’ve also heard others had to update for 5000 series.
