A:Answer I bought a Z370 Gaming M5 and Core I7-7700K processor based on this answer. Unfortunately, this is incorrect. After building up the pc completely and turning it on, it would not post. I returned the psu and motherboard (it was a new build so I couldn't really test either and figured one of these was the problem) in order to get a new set and try again. However, while researching I came across a few interesting articles (here is one of them, you can find others if you google it [https://www.kitguru.net/channel/generaltech/damien-cox/kaby-lake-processors-are-incompatible-with-the-intel-z370/]). Essentially, the Z370 boards are a v.2 of the LGA1151; the simple answer is the new 8700 series {Coffee Lake} are compatible but the older processors {like Kaby Lake} are not compatible. If you want to use the processor you have you will likely need a Z270 mobo. If you want to use the Z370 then you have to get a new coffee lake (i7-8700k, i5-8600k, i5-8400, or others. Google intel coffee lake for processors that are compatible with the Z370).
