• Hello Mark, thanks for that question, the Essentials Lightstrip Expansion only has the 40in | 1m RGBCW, Self-Adhesive Lightstrip and the Quick Start Guide, so yes, to make it work you would need the Starter kit which includes the Controller and Power Supply Unit.
