QuestionCan this be used with your phone to make video calls? Using Duo App?
- Answer No. There is no camera on this device.
QuestionDebating between getting another Google Home or Google Hub. Does one have better sound quality for music, than the other?
- Answer The Google Home has significantly better sound. The Google home hub, while it does have a speaker, isn't meant to be one. It's essentially a smart display with the Google assistant.
QuestionIf you use this for googling a recipe will the recipe stay on the screen so you can use it like having a cookbook open and prepare it without screen going black and having to keep refresh it?
- Answer Yes it does! I find it better for recipes than going to the websites on your phone since those recipe sites are so full of clutter and ingredients "on sale" near you. The home hub automagically strips all that away and just gives you the recipe. An unexpected benefit.
QuestionCan you play music on the device
- Answer Absolutely - Play your favorite songs Use your voice to play your favorite songs, albums, artists, and music videos from YouTube Music. You can also listen to Spotify and Pandora. All available free.
QuestionWhen displaying Google Photos, can you choose to have them shown randomly? Will is show all photos? Or do you need to specify albums? Also, can you connect multiple Google accounts to display photos from multiple family members? Thanks!
- Answer Yes to all answers except it will not show all photos. When setting up the hub you can choose persons places and things for it to choose from. Currently I chose mine to display pictures that contain my son and wife and Google will show pictures that they are recognized in. It will also weed out the not so good pictures; ie blurry or poor images.
QuestionI am new to any of the devices mentioned in the Q&A section. How does it work? What do you need to set it up? Is there a monthly fee?
- Answer No fee and you install with Google home App. Everything you need to know is on YouTube.
QuestionLooking to get help from Alexa and Google Home owners. I have had Alexa since it's release. Thinking of switching everything over to Google Home. Thoughts on which one is better?
- Answer They both have their uses. I have both, I use both. You can use Alexa to get to Cortana, and use Cortana to get to Alexa. You can use Alexa and Fire TV to quickly view Arlo Cameras. Both integrate well with Wink Hub 2 based smart home devices, and can do so at the same time. It would be nice to get all the smart speakers and displays to play the same music together synched regardless of if they are Google or Amazon based, but that's probably never going to happen. If I had to pick one, I'd pick Alexa because of how many skills they have for it. But I don't have to, because they coexist quite well.
QuestionDo I have to have a google assistant for the google home hub to operate?
- Answer You don't need a Google Assistant but you do need a mobile phone to set it up.
QuestionCan this be grouped with my other google home speakers...Google max...google home..etc...
- Answer Yes you can place it into a speaker group through the Home app and cast audio to the whole group just like with other Google Home speakers.
QuestionDoes nest hello video doorbell work with video?

QuestionI'm thinking of getting this to replace my alarm clock (in part). I also have an Alexa and a Google Speaker. Can i use music to wake me up with this or is there just some default alarm?
- Answer YES, JUST SAY "OK G.OOGLE, SET AN ALARM TO WAKE WITH MUSIC" IT WILL RESPOND, SURE WHAT TIME, YOU CAN ALSO ASK THE TIME AND IT WILL READ IT ALLOUD TO YOU IN THE DARK WITH YOUR EYES CLOSED, YOU'LL KNOW IT.
QuestionWhich is better Alexa or the Google home assistance
- Answer It is Chevy vs. Ford question. My system is built around Google Assistant, so it is my preference and I carefully choose my new devices to be compatible with it. If you prefer Alexa, it is your choice, just keep in mind, not all devices are cross platform compatible. Google has better statistic for more accurate answers, Alexa is getting more and more skills every day and seems to be more popular. Just look at what you will use it for and make a decision.
QuestionI want a smart alarm clock that will link to my google calendar and display my daily appointments and the time and date at all times. Can this device do that?
- Answer I was the original poster of this question... the person who told me it could do this was incorrect. This will not keep anything on your home screen except for a clock or pictures. It times out and goes into sleep mode and defaults back to one of those two settings. In short it will show you your calendar if you ask it to, but after about 15 seconds of being idle it goes back to sleep. What's worse is it doesn't even keep the calendar open in the background. If I could at least tap it to bring up my calendar without having to talk to it, that would be something, but the only way to get your calendar back is to wake it back up by talking to it and asking it to navigate back to your agenda. Frustrating when this is the only reason you bought the product because you use a more proficient hub system already, and the only thing it doesn't do is sync to your calendar. Only wish the system I use right now had it's own email and calendar features to sink to their products.
QuestionDo I have to talk to it to play Pandora? I am mute.
- Answer You can use your finger to touch screen and command the hub. Great question.
QuestionCan multiple google hubs be used in one home?
- Answer Absolutely! You can have multiple Google Nest Hubs in one home and manage them easily using the Google Home app. When you have multiple devices, you can enjoy fun features like creating a speaker group for synchronized music or broadcast messages to everyone in your with your Google Home speakers.
