Nest Wifi router replaces your current router, and connects directly to your modem with an Ethernet cable. If you intend to keep your router in the Wi-Fi network, you may run into a double NAT (Network Address Translation) as both your current router and Nest Wifi router will be broadcasting their own private networks with identical SSID and password. We recommend disabling the Wi-Fi functionality of your current router to avoid this issue or remove it from the network. You will not be able to add a Comcast router to a Nest Wi-Fi mesh network. If in the future you do want to add more Nest points you can do that to extend your nest Wi-Fi . I completely replaced my old network with the nest Wi-Fi and it runs perfect no dead spots in my house. I had an Apple Airport extreme with another airport extreme bridged into the main router to extend my network. I alway had dead spots and the bridged router would go off line often. You will love the Nest. Simple to set up and easy to add smart devices to it such as doorbells, cameras, and Thermostats.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you have an Xfinity router + modem, you don't need to remove it. When you plug in Google Nest, it will walk you through the set up process. I used my phone and it was convenient. You will need to create a new wifi name and password when prompted and download Google Home before you begin installation. As a result, your WiFi connections menu will show two wifi names, just pick the Google Nest one and connect to it.
