Yes, When you plug the Nest into the modem it will pick up the Internet settings automatically. The app will guide you through installation. It was very simple and the range on these devices are awesome.

I am using an optimum modem with this same Nest package. Router in main floor,1 in basement and 1 on the 2nd floor.

Yes, I really believe so. I have attached the Ethernet cable from this Nest router to my Verizon Fios router. Then get the “Google Home” APP, and the app will guide you through it. You can do the same with your Optimum. (Optimum Altice should be strong, each TV should be a WiFi hotspot.)
My Fios is weak, and we don’t have Optimum in my area. Good luck. Have fun with your Google Nest WiFi, you can talk to it. (“Hello Goggle. Play some music.” And it will play music for you.)

Yes, just plug the nest directly to the Optimum modem and it will get Internet. Then use the app to setup the other AP's.
