• Nest WiFi is required to be connected to a modem with internet service. If your Gateway is a modem/router combo, you can put it in Bridge mode to avoid connection issues. You can learn more about Bridge Mode here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6240987

• You can plug your modem directly in. One of the three units in the kit has two ethernet ports on it. One is used to connect to your modem. The other can be used to plug something else in from your local network (for example, maybe a "wired-only" device).
