• Hi Riley, I don't know about the Optimum (cable?) modem, but this replaced a Ubee DDW36C modem/router that Spectrum had provided, and it works way better - although it doesn't have a router. I paired it with an eero system, and this combination fixed all of my wi-fi dropouts and questionable performance. I'd suggest contacting your cable provider to confirm whether it's compatible.
