Here's the path you need: Modem -> router -> eero | ------> whatever other devices you need to use a router for This switch doesn't assign IP addresses or other things your router will. If say you have all your cable/internet "stuff" in the basement, and you only have one ethernet wire up to your entertainment area - you'd put a switch on the end of that to connect your IPTV/XBox/etc to that one router port.
