“I got a new PACE 5268 router from AT&T. My WD MyCloud will not connect to it (it worked fine with the old router). Online digging says 'just connect a network switch to the router and then plug the WD MyCloud into the switch'. Will this switch do the job?”

This may do the trick. I suspect it's a cable issue, a negotiation speed issue, or the port on one end or the other is bad. If it's cable all you need is a different cable If its speed negotiation issue, this switch should handle the negotiation. If it's a bad port, you will need to get new hardware on one end or the other.

That will leave you 3 more ports to plug in 3 more devices (Laptops, another MyCloud, Desktop Computer, etc.). Note, these are all Ethernet connections (not Wifi, USB, ) and require Ethernet cables, so you will need to also order those if you don't already have them.
