Yes, except that with an extender, your internet speeds are reduced by approximately 50%. A switch allows you to send your internet to more devices, without a drop in speed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Technically yes. But it does not retransmit a signal; it only extends the wired signal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can use it to extend the maximum wire length
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes I have used it to boost the signal on longer runs. The longest run I have done was about 200 feet to the switch then connecting 4 systems with runs from 50 to about 250 feet using CAT 5e cable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It acts like a switch. Put one ethernet cable from your modem into it and you have 7 more ports to use. I'm not sure what you mean by extender though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it will expand or extend your network.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, this is not a Wireless aka WIFI extender aka Access Point. It is just an unmanaged Ethernet Hub/Switch.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. When you say "extender" most IT pros hear "wireless extender" and to that the answer is a qualified "no". You can, however, add another router on one of the ports of the switch and a point some distance from the switch such as on the second floor versus the basement or main floor. Think of the switch as your (wired) network expander in terms of wired devices. That is its main purpose but switches can be smart switches can do more. Check the capabilities of each model (VLAN, QoS, Prioritization and more).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Works as an extender if your residence has Cat 5 or Cat 6 wiring throughout.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think this switch supports the 100 meter ethernet distance limit but the limit is 100 meters for some good reasons. There is some information out there on collision detection and network diameter that touches on this topic.
