• This router will handle download speeds up to 900 mbps, so if you have a fast connection with a current slow router it should speed you up.

• I replaced a Cisco Wireless-n router with this one and my speed improved dramatically. I stream a lot of videos and my download speed with the Cisco wireless-n was less than 1MBps. With this router my speed has improved to up to almost 5MBps. Usually around 4.7MBps. I use Comcast, so I can't speak for any issues with your satellite provider.
