You plug it into your computer and now it's able to connect to a wireless network in your immediate area. So BAM your on the net but you must be near a wifi network.

Sometimes there are unsecured or open networks you can connect to, but you don't just instantly have internet. I just downloaded the software and plugged the adapter into an old computer and connected it to my home network and yes BAM I was on the internet. I didn't believe it would be that easy. It was!
