It should work with any wireless router. It just has to be setup near enough to the router to receive an acceptable signal, then it amplifies it and rebroadcasts a stronger signal which extends the range.

Please try again later.I have a similar setup, yes it will work with your Motorola modem, you do not need the gigabit router as the Nighthawk has wired (gigabit) and wireless connections. If you have issues with coverage I would also suggest the Netgear AC7500 range extender.
