You will have to take the camera down to replace the batteries. The battery compartment is underneath the camera and it is a tight place to access.

If you use the screw in mount it will be more difficult to unscrew the camera from the mount to access the battery compartment.

Once you get down to the ground you will pull the back off and rwplace the batteries. I would be careful if you choose to do the battery replacement on your latter the back cover takes a little bit of pressure to slide open.
