• No i'm sorry it is for cable internet but there many other fiber optic routers they sell at major retailers or you could buy a router from verizon instead of renting

• Having worked for Verizon assisting technicians with installs, this is NOT compatible with their service. Verizon uses a proprietary setup which in part is driver by the IP video (which is a little different than what the cable providers use and I'm unsure if any cable providers have anything similar). Better (as everything on FiOS talks to each other), but it prohibits off-the-shelf equipment. That being said, the FiOS Quantum Gateway is a beast of a router and probably competes with this well. You can buy your router from Verizon upfront but yes, you need to at the least use their equipment.
