“Do I have to install any software before using this NETGEAR adaptor. I have a office supplied desktop that do not have wifi card and I can not load any external soft ware. Right now I am using a AT&T supplied adaptor is going bad.”

I have not installed it yet. I'm assuming you must install software before using it.

The Netgear WiFi adaptor needs the correct driver to operate. Some computers come with the driver preloaded. If not, I believe the adaptor comes with a CD disc containing the driver. The computer we used it on doesn't have a disc drive, so we downloaded the driver from Netgear using a different PC, loaded it onto a memory stick, and then copied it over. Once the driver was loaded the adaptor has been working great.
