I used it on my dads desktop computer which is also very old and had not problem connecting to wi-fi at all. Very easy!

The internet card in my computer failed, my computer is not wireless, I bought this item and the problem was solved, now my computer is wireless, I have to mention that every now and then I have to remove and reinsert the adapter to connect to the internet, but no too often.. The price was cheaper than getting the computer repaired..

Yes. You will need a USB port and the appropriate operating system to make it work, though.

I used this with my hp laptop and gateway laptop and it should provide wifi access even if your laptop doesn't have built in wifi.
