• I have no problem outside the house near the router but it's next to an outside wall and if yours in deeper in the house, you might not fare as well. I also have the extender below that greatly helps throughout the rest of the house.

• You should be able to. I have about an acre of yard and have a low signal at next door neighbors house.

• It's a dual band router so I'd assign the devices in the shop to the 2.4 ghz network. It will reach over a further distance. The 5 ghz network is a bit faster (mbps wise) but broadcasts over a shorter distance.
