“Have exact modem router, purchased 6-7 years ago. Our internet is extremely poor. Had Comcast here checking connection, perfect. It's the modem router. Is this updated, or am I purchasing old technology? Software on mine is updated. TIA”

Judging by the fact that this modem/router advertises that you can use its USB port to attach an external hard drive for use as a Media Server, yet seems not to support any hard drive manufactured within the last five years, I'd say it isn't exactly current technology. That aside, though, it functions excellently in its primary purpose as a cable modem/router.
