“Is the USB port an output? Is there any advantage to using this as opposed to an ethernet cable if it is an output?”

The USB functionality is to be able to read / write to a USB drive. From what I have learnt over the last few days the USB port is not a network port like the Ethernet ports are. For some reason I don't understand the C7000v2 unit's USB functionality is very very buggy ( i have a much older Netgear unit that has worked pretty flawlessly for nearly 15 years!!) . I would not recommend this device to anybody....Nor sadly can I recommend Netgear as a vendor anymore due to its horrendously bad tech support and I have been a long time Netgear user.
