No, this is a modem (with wifi and routing capabilities) and it uses the coax jack to communicate with your ISP. I imagine it would mess with your service if not completely shut it down. If you are just wanting to extend wifi range, get either just a Nighthawk wifi router (which is built into this modem, you just don't need the modem portion) or get a wifi range extender.

You can run Ethernet cable to the back room and put in a wifi access box or you could buy a wifi extender box to extend wifi to the back room. You might be able to get two modems to connect to your cable but you will have network problems that will vex you.
