Can it be used with a straight talk smart phone? null

Yes. The cellphone settings must be set to use wifi and under phone in settings it must be set to use wifi calling. As long as you are in the range of the net gear hotspot you can send and receive calls, texts and use internet once you connect your phone with the password. We bought a house in a dead zone for all cellphones but att service. We couldn’t change cell providers but we did have to get an att account for the hotspot. It is worth it. You can take it in your car or to the lake for instant access if you want. I recommend it.
