I used a pair of Netgear X6S extenders (EX8000) with it. I also used an AC1200. I don't know that you have to use the EX8000 extenders to get this effect, but it's nice to use them as essentially a mesh network where you can move throughout the house with the same network name. When I used the AC1200, it created its own network name (basically the main netweork name with _EXT at the end of it). That worked well to have a separate dedicated network for the kids to do school from home during the pandemic, but I prefer the mesh for most things as it makes setting up devices throughout the house easier.
