It all depends on how your satellites are set up. My router is in the basement/man cave as well and then I had satellites in my two boys room. The wifi reached throughout the house, even my attic, and outside in my yard but it would drop sometimes so I purchased two more satellites. I placed one in my kitchen and master bedroom but by adding the one in the kitchen made a huge difference since it provided a more direct path for the wifi to travel to the other satellites. Now I have a strong/high speeds all throughout the home when running tons of devices at the same time; 2 computers, laptop, 2 tv's; Netflix 2.ps4's and cell phones. No issues anymore. It's all about placement of the first upstairs satellite so it has a clear path to the router to send a strong signal to the other satellites. The router being in the basement can have metal and walls blocking the signal.
