This will more than cover your apartment if you hook the main router directly to your modem and place the second unit on the other side of the space. You'll have to get the T/W modem/router changed to a gateway and not use it as a router. I believe if you call them they can help you set that up. You may also be able to save some money by having them just supply a modem only since you're now going to be providing your own WiFi device.

No more TWC Modem and no 10 dollar monthly fee. You do have to contact TWC when you setup your own modem because the need to put the MAC address from your modem into their system.

You will still need the modem function of your modem router to supply the internet signal from TimeWarner, but if you connect via ethernet from your existing modem router to the ORBI system, you should get a stronger system and better speed. I'm not with TimeWarner, but I had purchased and was using a modem router. After installing ORBI as described above, the strength and speed of my signal increased measurably. Remember that the wifi cannot make the speed greater than what arrives via your provider, but a better system, such as the ORBI, can bring the wireless signal closer to the actual ethernet speed. That's what it did for me.

My experience has never been positive with equipment provided by TWC. You may need to call TWC customer service to have them set their router as a pass-through.
