Dont need to disable router but you should turn off the wireless radio. My network also has a modem/router combo.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will most likely want to disable the router portion first or you could have conflicting signals running through your house.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Pretty much plug and play. Very easy setup. I have comcast and this was a great add on
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The instructions ask you to disable your current wifi section in the existing router but I found that the perform equally well with or without this extra step. Dealing with your catv supplier can be a pain too so I suggest you skip it and you'll still get better performance and range.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The option is up to you, I added my Orbi and now I have the Comcast modem broadcasting 3 ssid's and the Orbi broad cast one ssid. Yes its a simple plug and play. I will say, you are supposed to unplug the Comcast router before connecting the Orbi to it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You have the option of either disabling the WiFi signal on your Comcast combo device and strictly running the Orbi's signal (recommended), or running the Orbi in Access Point mode alongside it. Instructions for setting up the Orbi in AP mode are located beginning on page 83 of the User Manual: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/RBK50#docs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't have the Orbi system (yet), so can't comment on how it specifically compares to your vendor equipment. But I've always used personally owned equipment in the house, and the reason is pretty simple. If you don't use the vendor supplied equipment, you may be able to eliminate extra monthly $$$ every month for RENTAL of their equipment. You lose access to their support services with any networking issues you may encounter in the house, so if you're not technically able to set up, troubleshoot and maintain your home network, this probably isn't for you. But if you do have the technical expertise to set up and secure your network (or you have a friend who is and is willing to help), I'd absolutely consider getting your own modem (check your vendor's compatibility list to be sure it will work with your plan) and also replacing the vendor supplied router while you're at it with. The equipment you buy can then often pay for ITSELF. Also, having a single router will make your network setup less complicated to deal with.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. One needs to be in bridge mode, doesn’t matter which one. Also turn offf WiFi services on the Comcast box as these can cause interference with the orbi’s own.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would think so I had to do that with my Fios system
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You do not have to disable the Comcast router. You have to plug the Orbi into the Comcast modem. Just follow the instructions and you should not have any problems. Ours was up and running in about an hour.
