If you are using the ethernet ports off the satellite you won't get the speed of your modem as it takes that ethernet traffic from the satellite and send it over the wifi backhaul antenna to the Orbi base. So, while those ports let you connect things that need to be wire they will only be as fast as the wifi and subject to all the traffic on the backhaul. Now the other thing I would check is if you are running 2 wifi networks one off the modem and one from the Orbi? If so this is what is called double NATing. BAsically you are forcing all traffic to be routed twice once from the Orbi and the other from the modem. To avoid this shut off the wifi on the modem and have the Orbi switch to AP mode (under advance). This turn the Orbi into just an Wifi Access Point. All routing / firewall / DHCP will be handled by the modem..... so, you would lose all the Orbi parental control, firewall and QoS features. This option though will probably give you the best throughput. You could always perform a backup and then test this config out and see what the speed differences are for you... and weigh the feature loss. For me I didn't want the Orbi for the parental control, firewall and QoS....my main thing was the coverage / speed and its ability to act as an AP (bridge mode) so that I could connect it to my existing router which had all those other features.

I'm now getting lightening fast speed throughout the house and beyond. I'm able to connect to network over three blocks away and this from a house that eats WiFi and cell signals. With the help of some very patient Netgear techs who helped with the set up and settings I now have a spectacular system that is handling the many, many devices that are hooked up to and through it. The combination of the Orbi system and the CM600 modem is a surefire combination.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am getting 200+ mbps in wifi through out home. Please reset to factory defaults and try again. If you are not getting proper speed, get it replaced.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We’re concerned as you should be getting much better speeds through the ports and would like to learn more about your setup. Some things that may be helpful would include your subscribed speeds, whether the reduced speeds are periodic or constant, if this is from the router or from the satellite, how you’re measuring the file transfer speeds, what kinds of and how many files you’re transferring, if you have another router transmitting through your network, etc. Please email us at [email protected] and we’d be happy to help you directly.
