“I would like to get wifi in my shop from my house that is 160 ft away. Will this unit work since both the house and shop have the same electrical service? Wifi reaches my shop just off my router but can't get signal through the metal walls. Any ideas?”

Both devices need to be on the same phase of power. The general rule of thumb is that this means that if they are on the same side of the central fuse box, they are on the same phase. I have seen the signal leak out to neighboring homes as well. Newer wiring will probably mean a cleaner/faster connection.
