Supposedly, you have to “bump” the car. But I’ve beat the Heck out of my car with his camera on and the ignition off. It hasn’t started recording at all. It looks like you have to slam into it with another car to have it start recording. And yes mine is hardwired so it should turn on, but it’s not. Also, if you have it hardwired at Best Buy remember that there’s only a two week return policy. And then if it doesn’t work, you have to deal with the company in England. Like I had to do

Please try again later.Hello, The 320XR has Parking Mode; if the camera is completely still for five minutes (the car is parked), then the camera will 'hibernate' in Parking Mode. If your car is bumped and the G Force sensor registers movement then the dash cam will automatically turn on, record for 30 seconds and then shut back down again. If you are unlucky enough to be hit twice in a row then the dash cam would automatically record again and capture both events.
