Your Night Owl device only needs to be connected to a modem/router if you wish to view it remotely on a PC/MAC or a Smart Device. To remotely view your system, you must manually connect an Ethernet cable from your modem/router to the DVR/NVR. If you do not want remote viewing, you can connect the system to a TV or monitor to view live video feed and recordings. Thanks for choosing Night Owl!

Please try again later.You do not need WiFi for this setup, although, if you would like to view your cameras from your smart device, you will need to connect the dvr/nvr to a modem of some sort that does supply internet with a patch cord (cord usually supplied with devices if required a hard connection). The night owl by its self creates a WiFi signal for the wireless cameras and that is it, you can not use the night owl WiFi signal to link to the net. Hope this helps
