Great question. These add-on wired cameras do not record on their own. Here’s how recording works: These cameras must be connected to a compatible Night Owl DVR or NVR to record video. The DVR/NVR is the recording device. It stores footage on its internal hard drive and manages motion recording, playback, and remote viewing. Once connected, recording can be set to continuous, motion-activated, or scheduled, depending on your recorder settings. Additional equipment required: A Night Owl DVR or NVR (sold separately if you don’t already have one) BNC cables (usually included with recorders; length may vary based on your setup) A monitor or TV for initial setup (HDMI/VGA) These cameras will not record directly to a phone, microSD card, or Wi-Fi without a Night Owl recorder.
