• Cost. Fewer cameras, less cost.

• 8 channels allow for up to 4 additional camera purchases, later (max 8 camera combinations). A 4 channel system only allows 4 cameras (no additional addons later). Keep in mind that this AHD DVR system allows older analog cameras to be added BUT ONLY in PAIRS! (example 4 analog OR 4 HD OR 2 analog AND 2. HD). In otherwords, channel Pairs require the same type of camera (channel 1&2 --3&4--5&6---7&8) You cannot place an analog camera with a Digital HD on Pair 1&2. (or on any other Pair).
