QuestionHOW FAR BACK DOES THE CAMERA RECORD BEFORE THINGS START TO ERASE?I WAS JUST WONDERING HOW FAR THE SYSTEM WILL GO BACK ON RECORDING BEFORE VIDEO FOOTAGE STARTS TO DELETE ITS SELF OR SAYS ITS FULL?

- Answer Once the DVR runs out of memory, it is programmed to continue recording on top of the oldest records. The DVR never stops recording. The recording time will depend on the amount of memory, the type of camera and what type of recording you have programmed. A system with 1 TB hard disk, with 4 channels, 4 cameras, recording nonstop on D1 resolution will last about 45 days.

QuestionIt says it has push notifications; does this mean that as soon as the camera detects something it will alert you via your mobile device?Basically just want to know how the push notifications work. I'm looking for a system that will automatically alert me INSTANTLY via cell phone (text, notifications, etc) if any motion is detected. Will this product do it for me?

- Answer It was advertised to be that way but it doesn't work. that option was disabled in the Night Owl HD app.

- Answer The system come with a 4 way power splitter that plugs in near the dvr that provided power to the cameras...no need to have an outlet next to the camera.

- Answer Yes if you have iOS or Android. This would be iPod, iPad, Android phones and Android tablets. They can also be viewed through your browser on a PC.

- Answer None of the cameras that come with the system are audio able. What the system offers is 4 AUDIO IN channels to connect 4 standalone microphones that come with 100 ft of cable and their own power supply that you can run next to any camera. This way you can transform any regular camera into an audio able one.

- Answer Good Afternoon. Yes, motion recordings can be set for each camera. You can set one to record motion and another to record on a schedule or vice versa. The operating temperature of these cameras is -14 degrees to 122 degrees F. Thanks for choosing Night Owl.

QuestionDoes the DVR have to be hard wired to the router via ethernet or is there a wireless option?Is it possible to hook up a wireless dongle to the back of the DVR for internet connectivity? My router is downstairs however the Night Owl DVR will be in a locked closet upstairs as the cameras are going to be up on the second floor. It would have to be an extremely long Ethernet cable to run one from the DVR to the router

- Answer Good Afternoon. To back up a recording to a USB drive, attach USB to USB port on DVR and follow these steps: 1) Login to your DVR, 2) open the Main Menu, 3) Click on Record icon at top, 4) Click on Events tab and 5) click on Quick Backup. Please keep in mind that the USB drive must be formatted. Thanks for choosing Night Owl.

- Answer No, this system comes with one power adapter for 4 cameras and yes you have to run coax cable to each camera but the cable comes with the power line in it, so you can plug the one adapter for the 4 cameras or two adapters for 8 cameras in the same outlet as the DVR.

QuestionHow long do the batteries last?If we install this system, do we have to change or charge batteries? In the cameras or in the monitors? Where can the cameras be monitored? On IPad or computer? I hate to sound stupid, but I have not had any experience with this type device.

- Answer Our systems do not use batteries. Our DVRs are power through power cords with a 12v adapter, the same goes for the cameras, which are connected to the DVR via coaxial cable with a video and a power connector that will power up 4 cameras at a time by connecting a 4-way splitter (included)

QuestionIs there a distance limitation issue with the 720P Camera?I had to buy a 100 foot extension cable (also made by Night Owl) to reach the back warehouse but the camera begins to pixelate and then losses connection then reconnects. It works fine at the end of the original 60 foot cable so it is not the camera and before I replace that 100 foot extension in my warehouse again I want to make sure there is not a distance or power related issue first. Do I need to install a Power Adapter closer to the camera to reduce the attenuation in the cable for the power?

- Answer Good Afternoon. As a general rule, each camera can successfully be installed up to 260 ft away from the DVR. If you choose to exceed that distance, then you would need to purchase a video balun. I'm not sure how you have run the cable (for instance just how exposed to the elements it is, etc..).
