No, this system comes with one power adapter for 4 cameras and yes you have to run coax cable to each camera but the cable comes with the power line in it, so you can plug the one adapter for the 4 cameras or two adapters for 8 cameras in the same outlet as the DVR.

Simply plug the 4-way splitter into the camera power adapter and plug each power end on the 4 cameras into one(1) of the splitter power ends. This 4-way splitter saves you from having to have more than one(1) camera power adapter. Regarding the coax, Yes, each camera will need to have a coaxial cable connecting it to the DVR and 4-way splitter. The system comes equipped with four(4) 60ft. BNC coaxial cables.
