Most dvr security camera systems have the option of recording non-stop, on a schedule or on motion. The best is usually to record on motion. You do not need a separate motion detector for this because the camera or the DVR can tell when there is motion. A system with 1 TB or more hard disk with 4+ channels, and 4+ cameras are programmed to record nonstop on D1 resolution system which are programmable to record over old data once system becomes full, so it is best to check system periodically. The recording cycle will last for approximately 45 days." By Night Hawk Jan 6, 2018
