“The system comes with: 6 ft. HDMI and RJ-45 cables. 9 ft. Wi-Fi extender antenna. What does this mean? A rep at Best Buy thought it meant that the cameras cannot be more than 9 feet from the wi fi base. That doesn't seem correct.”

Incorrect answer. I have my cameras over 50 feet from the dvr, and work great. If needed plugin the antenna mid way between further cameras.

The RJ-45 cable is to connect it to your router for remote viewing on a Smart Device, PC or Mac. The 9 ft. Extender Antenna is to help bypass obstacles between the Wireless NVR and Camera, that may be reducing the signal strength and range. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Cameras communicate to the Night Owl DVR. May cameras are within 50 feet of the unit. The DVR is hard wired to your WiFi with the LAN Cable. The 9 Foot extender is to help a camera that is slightly out of range.
