Will this lens autofocus with the D3100? null

This lens is compatible with entry level nikon cameras also, but it will not autofocus with D3000, D3100, D5000 or D5100 which do not have inbuilt motor in camera body. Its best to go with the AF-S lenses, there a little more but worth it.

If you want to use this lens on a D3100 you will have to achieve focus manually since the camera body doesn’t have the internal motor for AF. Or you can use the AF-S version of this lens that has the Silent wave motor inside the lens for AF.
