The Nikon AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D is a great lens for getting an attractive background blur and is compatible with the Nikon D5500; however, as that camera model doesn't have a built-in autofocus motor it will need to be manually focused. This compact and lightweight lens is perfect for travel, portraits and general photography and provides absolutely stunning images, even in low light.
