• The AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm is compatible with your D3400. You would need to look for NIKKOR lenses that are AF-S-type lenses. This means that the lens contains Nikon's Silent Wave Autofocus Motor. In addition, AF-P-type lenses will work as well. The have a different type of focus motor - a "pulse" focus motor - that enables for even smoother AF operation.
