“Can you hear the auto focus with this lense when taking video (D3100)? I own the Nikon D3100, the standard lense is noticeably loud while taking video. I'm curious if the Silent Wave Motor is quiet while focusing.”

I have used three lenses with the D7000 both in video and picture mode. They are: 35mm f/1.8G; 18-105mm kit lens; and the 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 lens. I did notice all three have different noise level during its auto focus operation. The loudest being the 55-300mm while the kit lens is just barely noticeable and the 35mm is truly silent. I am not really sure why but this is my observation.
