You might look for teleconverters from third-party brands like Kenko. Nikon has no teleconvertes for the 70-300 lens. But be aware that every teleconverter "darken" the lens. The F4 maximum aperture will become at least F5.6 (depending on the teleconverter multiplying factor). Nikon sells 400mm lenses, which will work like 600mm on your D5000. But they are expensive. If it fits your budget...
