• I have this same lens with my D5000 and the combination of this lens and camera take great pics -- everyone comments on them. I've attached a couple below for you to see. I highly recommend this lens for the D5000.

• The 70-300mm lens is a great choice if you need fast auto-focus (for action and / or sports). The 55-300mm lens is a good choice and more economical if auto-focus speed is not as important (shooting landscapes, portraits, still life, etc.).
