“How fast is the shutter speed? When I take a picture with my current camera it takes so long between pushing the button and the shutter opening that I miss most good shots.”

Most of the time shooting delay is caused by focusing. Press the button half way down (and hold it in) and let the camera pre-focus; when the subject is perfect press the button the rest of the way to shoot. With a bit of practice it is easy to get the perfect photo.
