The two lenses in this kit serve two different purposes. The main difference between the two of them is their focal length. In other words, how far you can zoom in on your subject, if that is what you are interested in doing. The 18-55 is great for portraits of people, pets, etc. You can, in addition, take great pictures of flowers and other subjects, close-up. The 55-200 is great when you want to photograph sports or any action that you need to zoom in from a distance. In addition to sports, the 55-200 is great for photographing wildlife as you can be at distance far enough away as to not disturb them. The Nikon website has excellent examples of pictures taken with both lenses: 18-55: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/camera-lenses/af-s-dx-nikkor-18-55mm-f%252f3.5-5.6g-vr-ii.html 55-200: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/camera-lenses/af-s-dx-nikkor-55-200mm-f%252f4-5.6g-ed-vr-ii.html
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 15-55mm is for close up shots and the 55-200mm is for further away shots. Most of the pictures we've taken have been with the 15-55mm
