The D5300, as well all Nikon's D3000-and D5000-series cameras, does not have a built-in focus motor. It does require lenses that have a Silent Wave Autofocus motor incorporated into it. Nikon denotes these lenses with an AF-S designation. While you can attach the two AF lenses you had mentioned here, you will have to use manual focus. The lenses will work on the camera in every other way, other than autofocus.
