The Nikon D5500 DSLR camera does not have a built-in focus motor like the Nikon D70 DSLR camera, however, you can use both AF-S and AF type lenses on the Nikon D5500. To get full use of the autofocus capabilities on an AF-S lens with this camera is no problem as the lens itself controls the focusing function but any AF lenses you use will have limited functionality and you will have to manually adjust the AF lens to get your focus.
