The Nikon D5100 DSLR camera body is incompatible with AF-P type lenses. These lenses use the camera menu to set focus mode and VR and not every Nikon DSLR camera has the capability of using the menu for these tasks, even with a firmware update. The Nikon D7200 DSLR camera is fully compatible with AI, AF, AF-S, and newer E-type lenses, so if any of your older lenses are one of these types you will have no trouble using them. It should be noted, however, there is a limition of use with AF-P lenses on the D7200. One limitation is that AF-P lenses do not have a VR ON/OFF switch so VR designated AF-P lenses will default to ON when used on this camera. In addition, the focus ring on the lens cannot be disabled when in autofocus mode. However, even with these limitations, the AF-P lenses are amazingly sharp and provide outstanding performance when used with the Nikon D7200 camera.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. All Nikon cameras 7000 and above which includes the 7200 can take any lens ever made by Nikon, because they have built in motor. The AFP lenses will not work on older cameras.
