The battery name is on the one that came with the camera. (EN-EL15c rechargeable Lithium-Ion). You can get the battery through other places that sell camera equipment. I highly recommend you get a nikon battery and not a generic one. The generic ones tend to run out of juice faster and have a risk of blowing up. The battery will run you around 70 dollars on B&Hphotovideo com. One battery will last for days with a full charge.
